One down...

and a few more to go... classes/events that is! I spent this past weekend in Kitchener, Ontario at Scrapfest and once again it was a HUGE success! Lisa and her amazing team out did themselves and made this one the best one yet!

I taught 4 classes in 28 hours so needless to say I was exhausted at the end but I would not change it for a minute! The Tattered Angels class started out on Friday night and was a nice pace due to the smaller size. Saturday was full speed ahead though as we started the day with the "Cut Above" class, then Shabby and Chic and finished up with the full house "Card Buffet"! A HUGE THANK YOU to my amazing class sponsors... we could not have done this without you and I am certain all ladies LOVED your goodies:) Be sure to check out the links for more fabulous ideas featuring the products by our Scrapfest Class Sponsors:0)

So what's up next... well, I have a couple of fun classes coming up within the next week at Treasured Memories and I am pretty sure there are a few spots left. Be sure to call 414-1540 and sign up today! Here is what is on the agenda...

This is the 6X12 Prima Build-A-Book I have designed for several different locations over the next couple of months. First place that it will be taught is at Treasured memories on Saturday April 25 (12-4). There is a possibility that it could go longer (in fact, it is VERY likely so be prepared!). It featured the BEAUTIFUL Communique line of papers by Graphic 25 and is enhanced with a plethora of stunning embellishments by Prima. This is one clas you do NOT want to miss! To register, call (780)414-1540.

It will also be taught in the Netherlands TWICE! Yup... the wonderful ladies in attendance at Simpel Scrappen will have the opportunity to create this lovely keepsake as well. Stay tuned for more details on this sure to be fabulous event as I depart for the Netherlands on May 20 for a few amazing days teaching a total of 7 (seven!!!!) classes in only a few short days! I am looking forward to seeing Carla and her lovely sister again as we have a phenomenal birthday celebration at her store. I am soooo excited to be a part of this!!! Check out her website for more details surrounding this class and all of the others!

The next class is one that I am particularly proud of! YUP! This "Sweetness" layout featuring the Bella Bella Collection was originally designed for the My Mind's Eye booth at CHA but within a short while of releasing the sneak peek, Scrapbook Trends Magazine requested it for their April Issue. Not only did it get published, but it was chosen as their "ONE AMAZING LAYOUT" and a small write up was done. I can now finally share this layout (one of my all time favourites) with you! BUT it will only be run once as the papers are already nearly sold out so it is not likely I will be able to get my hands on more of it to do the class/ kits more than this once. That being said... you do NOT want to miss out! It is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Treasured Memories (6:30-9:30pm). Call 414-1540 today as there are a limited number of spots available. Interested in a kit... let me know and if I have enough left over, I can get one to you.

Now speaking of Scrapbook Trends Magazine, I thought I would give you a quick heads up that it is now available as a download online! How cool is that? Head on over to www.scrapbooktrendsmag.com to check it out! It's such a beautiful publication and to have it accessible at the touch of a button is GREAT!

I am also looking forward to going on an Alaskan cruise in just a couple of weeks with David, Jody and Becky from Scrapbook Trends Magazine May 10. We are hard at work tweaking the classes (I think we are doing more than a dozen between the 4 of us) and we have a lot of really cool things in store and amazing kits provided by pur phenomenal sponsors! For those of you attending this event hosted by OMC... I cannot wait to get to know you and have a wee bit of fun aboard this amazing ship!

There are also a couple of classes at Scrapbook Memories and More in Sherwood Park the first week of May. Be sure to call (780)449-0603 to register if you are into participating!

The first one is a layout class festuring the Bloom and Grow Collection by My Mind's Eye on May 4, 2009 (7-9). This layout was taught also at Scrapfest and it is a fun one perfect for those Spring and summer shots!

This next one is on May 5 (6:30-9:30- at least) and features the beautiful Flirty Little Secrets collection and a tonne of Prima goodness throughout this adorable Build-A-Book clear and chipboard album. Call (780)449-0603 to register for this one. It will also be taught in the Netherlands and at Treasured Memories at the end of May if you cannot make it May 5.

Last class for now is the Flying Heart class featuring a plethora of goodies from Riff Raff Designs and Tattered Angels. It is scheduled for May 7 at Treasured Memories.

Okay so that is it for now... have a GREAT day!

OH! and be sure to check out the Tattered Angels and Prima blogs for some super cool samples by our Design Teams combining Prima and Tattered Angels... truly a match made in heaven!!!

Prima and Tattered Angels... a match made in heaven!

Everyone who knows me knows how very much I adore the products by Tattered Angels and Prima. From my very first time playing with Glimmer Mist I had to pull out my Prima stash of flowers, ribbon and papers to alter them all with the unbelievable number of color choices of Glimmer Mist!

When the design team from Tattered Angels was told we were pairing up with Prima this month I was elated:) It was great news as I could share a little more of my love for both companies and their beautiful goodies that work hand in hand.

Well... first I have to apologize. I thought that I could post at any point this week. Somehow in the chaos of having to help with my grandmothers funeral, I missed the part where I was supposed to have this posted MONDAY! OOOOPS! I am sooooooooo sorry!

So on a sad note... my grandmother passed away last week. She was an amazing woman with so many stories to tell. She truly led an amazing life and quite frankly, at 89 years old, she was truly an inspiration. I wanted to capture her essence in this collage that was used for her funeral yesterday. Design wise... it is VERY busy!!!!!!! I know that... but there are so many amazing stories associated with each photo (more than 50 I think!) and all of the little bits and baubbles by Prima and Tattered Angels worked perfectly to enhance the memories of her.

So... what did I do to make this??? I started with a 24"X24" canvas. It's HUGE but it needed to be to hold the more than 50 photos. I sprayed the background with several of my favourite colors of Glimmer Mist, gradually blending as I built up the colours creating the look I was after.

I used those same colours on the Tattered Angels Glimmer Chips. Those are the butterfly and oval shapes and they are actually the frames that accompany the new alphabets! They were the perfect size for housing the very old photos phat were poor quality so they could not be blown up.

I LOVE the intricate designs on the Embossed Glimmer Chips by Tattered Angels and enhanced the embossing with some "Frayed Burlap" Distress Ink. This was done by simply rubbing the ink pad very gently across the top of the Glimmer Chip, gradually apply colour to the raised portions of the chipboard pieces.
All photos were matted with Prima's "Whispers" collection of patterned paper. They work beautifully with the selection of Glimmer Mists I chose to use. I kept the matting VERY simple as there were alreay a tronne of things going on... less was definitley best in this case!

I also cut apart one of the new Prima "SEW CUTE" Mulberry papers and used it as a center piece for this project. I had my aunts round up some of my grandma's personal costume jewellery to add to this collage to give it the personal touch. You will notice the "I" (for Irene) and the glod circle that was used as a flower center for the Prima Flower. There are a couple more pieces scattered on the project and I think that is a nice way to make a project like this even more special. One thing I do want to also point out is that all flowers were altered slightly with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. We all know how well the plain white mulberry flowers work but try your hand at changing up some of the coloured or patterned Prima flowers as I did here. Notice the burgundy flower in the center of this flower... it was lilac at first (and I do not "DO" purple well at all) so I gave it a few spritzes of Glimmer Mist and VOILA! The PERFECT match:)

For more amazing inspiration featuring the products from these two phenomenal companies, be sure to check out the works by my fellow Tattered Angels DT Member, Sally Lynn MacDonald as well as Jen Jockisch, and Jaime Warren, of the Prima Design Team, whose projects can be seen on the Prima blog. Of course there is the Tattered Angels Blog too so be sure to watch there for more exciting ideas!

I hope that you enjoyed my project this week as it is very special to me. And if you do not... that is okay too... it was created for different reasons this time out! My Grandma was a woman who encouraged personal choice. She knew the importance of creating things with your hands for personal enjoyment and if you were fortunate enough to be able to share with others, it was an additional blessing! Sometimes... it is important to create and play just to lose yourself in the process as I did here. I was able to reminisce about the times we shared and I learnt so very much about my grandmother by creating this collage... things that I had no idea about! Ultimately... that is what matters most!

As I stood back at her funeral yesterday and witnessed the laughter and tears by the constant stream of people who knew and loved my grandmother as they spent time looking at the numerous photos on this display... I knew this particular piece did just what it was supposed to. It honours her memory and the woman that she was and will forever remain as in our hearts. She would be pleased and that is ultimately what matters most!

So there you have it... now, life must carry on today! I have to work like mad to play catch up as I leave for Scrapfest in Kitchener in only 2 days!!!! WOW! How did that event sneak up on me so fast???!!!!!!!! I am so excited to go and be a part of this event for the 3rd time! I will be teaching four classes so if you are out in that neck of the woods... be sure to check them out! You will find more info here , be sure to check it out! I have got some amazing sponosrs for my classes and I know you will NOT be disappointed!

Have a great day everyone!!!

My mind is racing...

I am going at mach speed with all of these really fun ideas but it is unfortunately causing wee bit of insomnia! So what`s a gal to do that cannot sleep... why update the blog of course!

So, this week has been a whirlwind. So much to report... including the many fun facts surrounding this other cruise I was mentioning. So now that all the details are being finalized and coming together, here is the deal!

I have a really good friend, Jody, who is over at Northridge Media (Scrapbook Trends Magazine). He came to me last week asking if I would be interested in helping them out with a few classes aboard a cruise to Alaska that they are sponsoring. Well... needless to say, he did NOT have to ask me twice! I was worried at first that it might have been a really bad joke... I could not possibly be lucky enough to get to do 2 cruises back to back! But nope... he was serious! And I am THRILLED!!!

The Northridge Media team of teachers will consist of Jody, David, Becky and myself and do we ever have some AMAZING classes in store for all attendees!!!!!! WOW... you will NOT be disappointed! I am going to tell you all about our phenomenal sponsors in the next post as we are still finalzing a few details but trust me when I tell you they are the hottest companies out there! Be sure to check back next week as we will hopefully have all samples ready to go!

Speaking of Scrapbook Trends Magazine... this is a little off topic but I have to share a little toot with you! Be sure to grab a copy of the April Issue of this beautiful publication and flip to page 20. I am super excited to have a layout featuring the Bella Bella Collection from My Mind`s Eye and my sweet little neice Maile is making her print debut! lol! I was honoured to have it chosen as their Àward Winning Style`layout... it still makes me giggle when I get things published:) Okay... just had to share that with you now back to business!

So... details on the Alaska Cruise... just in case anyone gets a really good tax refund and wants to come and play with me again aboard the Princess Star setting sail from Seattle to Alaska May 10-17. There are a few beautiful stops along the way and from what I understand... Alska cruises are supposed to be among the most scenic. Everyone that has been on one RAVES about it. Fortunately, I get to find out for myself. I will be in great company and I can tell already that my roomie on board (Becky) is going to be a blast! I am sure we will have plenty of stories to share when the week is done:) I am pretty thrilled that Jody and David asked me to come with them and hopefully they will be glad they did:) I only hope they can all handle my craziness!!!

I warned Katie, the cruise director from Oh My Crafts (the company organizing this event). Those of you that were on the Crop and Cruise in February can vouch for my sometimes insane personality! In a completely good way of course ;) I asked her if her crowd of attendess could handle a crazy canuck or should I try to keep the craziness under wraps... I don`t think the sweet gal knew what to think!!! It looks like they have done a fabulous job getting all the details sorted out for the cruise and I look forward to being a part of such a phenomenal event. I seriously could not ask for a better job and I hope that everyone will love the classes that we have in store and hopefully I do not scare them away... lol! What do you think (girls that went to the caribbean with me)... should I show our friends south of the border a true `Trisha`class or keep it pretty mellow... hmmmmmmm

Regardless of hwo wild I get, we all know that we will have a tonne of fun one way or the other:)
Like the Men at Work class... lucky ladies on board here let me tell you! David and Jody will be hosting a class that is full of fun! I am overflowing with ideas on the actual design of it but we will let the guys take the reins on teaching this one as there will be a plethora of tools and techniques best taught by a couple of guys that like to get their hands dirty;) YUP! Becky and I will play foreman (or forwoman) and make sure we keep the guys working hard to give you a class that will be talked about for years to come! I LOVE it already... how the heck am I supposed to be patient and wait another 6ish weeks... it`s going to be torture!!! LoL!

I know one thing that will keep me occupied for a bit... ScrapFest! YUP!!! Getting super excited about that:) I leave two weeks from today for Toronto (Kitchener actually) for a fabulous weekend. I am honoured to have been asked back to teach for the third year in a row and am wowed at the line up of talent teaching alongside of me:) My Card Buffet class is now full but there may be a few spots left in a couple of the other classes... be sure to check it out and sign up today if you have not yet done so:) ScrapFest has always been an amazing event and Lisa and her team just keep making it better year after year! I am looking forward to seeing all of my Ontario friends... not to mention a few from Alberta making the journey out east too! Should be a fabulous weekend:)

Okay... so I am going to get this day started (well for the rest of my family anyways)... my day never really ended yesterday or so it seems due to my lack of sleep! So much to do today and looking forward to the results of everything that comes together:) I cannot wait to share with you...
